Karl Nelson Orgelbyggeri AB
Karl Nelson is concentrating his business on the new construction of modern mechanical organs with a definite historical basis. As an apprentice to John Brombaugh in the USA he has received a thorough education in the art of building historically inspired organs, where the ambition has always been that all of the details of an organ must contribute to the musical success of the instrument. This ideal drives our current production, where the goal is to rediscover the art of building beautiful-sounding and timeless instruments rather than to copy historical models.
Currently we are four persons working at our shop in Lovene, just south of Lidköping. We construct all parts of the organ with the exception of the blower and the screws. We accept nothing less than the highest standards of materials and craftsmanship

The organ shop in Lidköping was founded in 1892 by Carl A Härngren. In 1912 the firm changed name to H Nordfors & Co., and from 1952 to 1998 the company was run by the Smedman family, Smedmans Orgelbyggeri AB. In 1998 Karl Nelson assumed leadership, and the business name was changed to Karl Nelson Orgelbyggeri AB in 2002.
